XML Tools

All-in-one XML toolbox: format/beautify, minify/compact, validate syntax, and explore structure with a tree viewer. Also: XML Compare | JSON ↔ XML | JSON Compare.
All processing happens locally in your browser — your data is never uploaded to any server.
Mode:
How to use: Paste your XML in the left textarea, choose a mode, and click Process.
Format: Beautifies XML with configurable indentation (2/4 spaces or tabs). Preserves comments, CDATA, and processing instructions.
Minify: Removes all unnecessary whitespace to produce the most compact XML possible.
Validate: Checks XML for well-formedness — reports unclosed tags, mismatched names, and other syntax errors with line/column numbers.
Tree View: Displays the XML as an interactive collapsible tree for exploring document structure. Use the search box to filter nodes.
What is XML?

XML is a markup format: elements wrapped in tags, attributes on the start tag, and exactly one root element. Well-formed means the tags balance — every parser enforces this. Valid means the document also obeys a schema (DTD or XSD) — a separate, optional check. Namespaces let the same local name mean different things in different vocabularies via a URI prefix.

Validate here checks well-formedness, not schema validity.
