Hard watermarks vs metadata: a visible watermark is composited into the pixels before encoding — it survives every re-upload but cannot be removed without re-encoding and damaging the area under it. Opacity and positioning decide how destructive removal is (tiled diagonal watermarks are the hardest to strip). A "watermark" stored as metadata is trivially removable — it identifies, it does not protect. Compositing re-encodes every frame: see Video to MP4.

Video Watermark
Add a Watermark to Your Video Online — Protect your videos with a text watermark (supports Chinese fonts) or an image watermark (PNG with transparency), or combine both. Pick from 9 screen positions, adjust opacity and margin, and download a WebM video with the watermark baked in. All processing is done locally in your browser , so your files are never uploaded to any server.
Supported input: WebM / MKV / MP4 / MOV / AVI videos using codecs like VP8/VP9/MPEG-4. Output is WebM (VP8 + Vorbis). Image watermarks should be PNG files with transparency for best results.
First use loads an ~30MB video processing engine into the current browser. It is cached and reused afterwards, so please be patient.
