Compress Audio Online — Load an audio file (MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A and more) and smooth its dynamic range. A compressor lowers the level of loud peaks while attack and release shape how fast the gain reacts, and makeup gain lifts the overall level back up. Pick a Light, Medium or Strong preset, or dial in your own threshold, ratio, attack, release and makeup values. Great for podcasts, voiceovers, and leveling music mixes. Everything runs locally in your browser.
Supported input: MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, Opus, M4A, AAC, WMA, AIFF and other common audio formats. Files are never uploaded to a server.
First use loads an ~30MB audio processing engine into the current browser. It is cached and reused afterwards, so please be patient.

How the parameters work: Threshold sets the level (in dB) above which compression kicks in — lower values compress more of the signal. Ratio is how strongly the signal is reduced above the threshold (3:1 means 3 dB in becomes 1 dB out). Attack and release control how fast the compressor reacts (in milliseconds); short attack tames sharp peaks, longer release sounds more natural. Makeup gain (in dB) lifts the compressed signal back up to compensate for the level lost to compression.
